Accept and Embrace, In That Order

Have you ever viewed someone in a photograph and thought about how wonderfully radiant and beautiful they looked? Now, have you ever picked up a photo of yourself and done the same? The answer is probably much less often. We tend to be so much more critical of ourselves than we are of others, over analyzing and disecting things that may or may not exsist but in our own eyes.

I believe that one of the first steps to over all health is to begin with the mind. Some of us spend a lot of time trying to keep ourselves in good physical shape, which is fantastic (it is my profession, after all), but take very little time to "train the brain". Forcing ourselves to look at at a photo, or even in a mirror, and learning to accept ourselves as we are is the primary pivitol point in a change of your lifestyle into becoming one of wellness. Once you focus on some of your positive attributes, you will notice that with each look you will find more and more that you are impressed with, and then you reach a point when you begin to embrace what you see.

This can be applied to anything in life. The more good you do with each day that you are so lucky to be alive in (accept), makes you see the positive impact you are having on the world (embrace). The time you take to look around you and see the surrounding beauty (accept), the more inspired you feel to tackle the things that may come along that are not as pleasant (embrace). The possibilities are endless!

In closing, please deem yourself worthy enough of a good session of "brain training" for at least 10 minutes a day. Start with yourself. Find the positive of both inside and out. Accept both your strengths and your faults, and then embrace every last bit of yourself. Eventually, your faults become challenges that you wish to improve and the sessions become a natural state of mind, not something you have to put such a conscience effort into.

Like muscles in the body, the brain will also learn how to function in a stronger and more productive state when well trained. So lets get to work......look in the mirror and tell yourself how much you love yourself and then pick out a favorite thing about yourself, one physically and one from your soul.

See? Easier than you thought!

Welcome, Wellness Seekers!

Life is such a gift and I feel so grateful to have mine. I feel like I've had a good run at it so far. Sure I've had my ups and downs, but my ups I willingly rode with a giant smile and my downs I view as learning opportunities. I suppose this is the basis for beginning The Wellness Collection. I am just so eager to share little tid bits of happiness with you that I believe contribute to an overall healthy lifestyle! A collection of thoughts and learnings that help make things "well", so to speak.

Having been in the fitness industry for over 15 years now, I have picked up quite a few pointers. Yet, I have slowly come to realize that true health is achieved through so much more than just food and exercise. Although they are very important components, I have found so many other things that have contributed to making my life the best it could possibly be. I want to motivate and empower you to live your life so it, too, can be the best it can be. We are only given one chance at life, so we may as well live it to the fullest!

Take this day and make it wonderful! Open your eyes wide enough to see every chance of happiness! Believe that you can live the life that you dream of, and hopefully I can help you along the way. Onward, Wellness Seekers! Onward, to being your best!
